(Oh for the Love of Books is a play on "In My Mailbox", hosted by Kristi@The Story Siren)
LOTS of good books this week. My friend Chelsey and I are both leaving Montreal this month and to commemorate our parting (**tears**) we decided that one last book buying date was in order. I bought 4 books and then received a book I had been waiting for for 2 months...It's been an exciting week in new reads!
Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
Published October 13th 2009 by Simon & Schuster Children's
391 pages
**Not impressed with this one. See review
Falling Under by Gwen Hayes
Published March 1st 2011 by New American Library
324 pages
**This one came highly recommended by my book-buddy Chelsey and it's been fun so far. I put it down when I got distracted by the Summer series but am looking forward to finishing it this week
City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra ClarePublished April 5th 2011 by Margaret K. McElderry
Hardcover, 424 pages
**Words cannot express the depth of my excitement for this book! I will not be whipping through it anytime soon though, I will be practicing restraint for as long as I can because knowing Clare and her incredible talent I will be so sucked into this story that I will immediately want to read the next installment when I close the cover on book 4! Since the next one doesn't come out until next year, I'm biding my time ;)
We'll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han
Published April 26th 2011 by Simon & Schuster
Hardcover, 288 pages
**This was a great treat, I'd been waiting to read book 2 until I had my hands on book 3, so when I saw this in stores I grabbed it and ran home to start reading. I read the last two installments back to back and loved them dearly! So much more impressed by them than I was with book 1 in the series, The Summer I Turned Pretty. I've reviewed each one for this blog.
Deadly Love by Brenda Joyce
Published January 15th 2001 by St. Martin's
Mass Market Paperback, 352 pages
**I ordered this book and the second in the series almost two months ago, used because they are no longer available through amazon.ca or Chapters.ca new. Of course as luck would have it, number 2 came before number 1. In fact number 1 - Deadly Love didn't come at all :( So I had to have another one sent and waited about a month for it when all was said and done. I'm excited to work my way through this series after I've heard so many good things about it! A historical, it's set in 1902 New York and follows the sleuthing escapades and love affairs of Francesca Cahill, the youngest daughter of an American aristocratic family.
Happy reading everyone, and hope you all had a lovely Easter!
Sad to hear you didn't like Hush, Hush. Still, hope you like COFA!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to eventually reading Falling Under too :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE SUMMER. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the first one but haven't been able to get my hands on the second and third books yet.
