Waiting on Wednesday {14}

Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine
This weeks much anticipated book release is:
Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
Hardcover, 421 pages
Expected Publication: August 23rd 2011 by Razorbill
From Goodreads
The first book in Richelle Mead's brand-new teen fiction series - set in the same world as Vampire Academy.

When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. But at their new school, the drama is only just beginning.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Bloodlines explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive - this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone's out for blood.
Why am I waiting on this one? I loved Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series and as it progressed I really came to like Adrian more and more and the new characters like Sydney who were slowly being introduced. Although I still have to finish the last few books in the series, the more I hear from Mead on her blog, the various websites and posts devoted to these new books (saw a cover photo shoot online yesterday for the rest of the series) I become more and more excited to delve into a new series set in the same world as Rose's story. I think it'll be something nice and fresh to have Syndey as the protagonist, gives readers a new perspective given that she is an alchemist! Fun stuff all around. If you haven't read the Vampire Academy series DO IT! These books are what got me back into reading YA - I also got a few friends hooked on the series and now we all devour YA lol
What are you waiting on this week?
